FROM CONDO TO CATCH, THE PERFECT WINTER VACATION

WHEN THE OFFICE CALLS . . .

TELL THEM YOUR ON ANOTHER LINE.

The fall and winter months are some of the best times to catch trout, redfish, flounder, and sheep's head. The bull reds migrate along our beaches from east to west during the months of November through February. These are the adult redfish and range in size from 10 to 25 pounds, lots of fun to catch on light tackle. We are also catching speckled trout as they move north to the creeks and rivers. The flounder run to the Gulf to spawn in the fall so we catch them along with the sheep's head around the jetties and inland docks. Now is the time to take advantage of some of the best inshore fishing opportunities at The Wharf in Orange Beach with Captain Robby Walker. Book our Fishing Getaway Package!

Pat Green Concert Date Set For The Wharf

Acclaimed country artist Pat Green will be performing Saturday, October 31, 2009 at The Wharf Music Hall. Doors will open at 7:30.

For a man whose new album ‘What I'm For” begins with a powerful song called "Footsteps of Our Fathers," Pat Green has blazed his own trail in a way that few artists today can claim. Even with all the artistic and popular success he has experienced along the way ‘What I'm For” is the stirring sound of Pat Green arriving as a major American singer-songwriter who has managed to make his own way in country music and beyond. To borrow a memorable phrase from the man's biggest hit to date, "Wave On Wave" of new faces have come along, but few have ever made such a vivid impression, both as a recording artist and performer as Pat Green.

This performance will be the initial concert event at the new Wharf Music Hall. The venue is located within the Conference Center at The Wharf and can accommodate up to 2500 concertgoers.

Tickets are on sale at The Wharf Amphitheater Box Office, The Marina Dock Store at The Wharf, all Ticketmaster locations, www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. All tickets are $25.00. Tickets purchased at The Wharf locations incur no Ticketmaster fees.

CHESNEY LAUNCHES NEW RADIO STATION FROM THE WHARF

FROM RODEO ATTITUDE NEWS

By Stephen L. Betts
Posted Monday, July 27, 2009

Kenny Chesney is transforming his iPod into a Web-based radio station. The superstar is set to launch No Shoes Radio at noon (ET) on August 6. He'll be on hand in the parking lot of the Amphitheater at the Wharf in Orange Beach, Ala., where he's set to perform later that night, for the radio station's official live kick-off.

In addition to an interview and perhaps the performance of a few tunes, Kenny will be joined by tourmates Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum for the inaugural day of broadcast, which culminate in the simulcast of the Orange Beach concert, available via computer anywhere in the world.

"I always say I wish I could take the fans with us," says the entertainer. "I can't drag people around behind me, but we can still make them part of this concert experience. The idea that I can bring everybody together within all the music that inspires me ... well, that's what got me started doing this in the first place, and now we can find a way to bring everybody to the show! It's gonna be cool, and then it's gonna keep rocking."

Expect Kenny's eclectic musical taste to be another exciting aspect of No Shoes Radio.

"People ask me what I do and, obviously, because of the way I sing and where I come from, I'm a country singer, but really, what I do draws on so much more than that," Kenny explains. "Growing up, I don't think anybody listened to any one kind of thing -- and what I think of as country, well, that's not really what we do ... But then again, I think most of our fans are listening to other stuff, too, whether it's Dave [Matthews], [Bruce] Springsteen, [Tom] Petty or Jackson Browne, not to mention Bob Marley, who I think may be the great equalizer among all kinds of music."

Rum Runners Opening July 1st

Rum Runners USA announces it’s newest location at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama will open the first week in July.

“We are very excited to be adding this new store to our growing family of locations that feature Great Food, Great Music and Great Fun for customers of all ages,” said James Auerbach, Vice President of Rum Runners USA. “With the new Conference Center opening on The Wharf property and the rapidly growing area, we are confident that the new Rum Runners store will be extremely successful,” Auerbach said.

The new location is scheduled to open on July 1, 2009. Including the new location in Orange Beach, Rum Runners USA will have 6 nationwide locations in five states open (NC, FL, MI, IN, AL). The new location in Orange Beach will further strengthen the Rum Runners brand name throughout the Southeast region. Auerbach attributes the growth to the fact that interest in the company and concept has never been higher.

“One of the key components to all of our locations is the customer interaction in the nightly live entertainment and musical show. This adds to the high levels of “fun” experienced by all,” Michael Scozzafave, Rum Runners founder added. “Especially in our current economic times we feel that it is very important that our customers enjoy a wide variety of delicious food and live entertainment all at a comfortable price point,” Scozzafave said.

About Rum Runners:
The Rum Runners theme consists of a Caribbean style with palm trees, thatched roof tiki huts, island style shacks, full wall tropical murals, lush foliage, and award winning lunch, dinner, and late night menus. The facilities are designed to take customers on a trip to a far away place where the sand is as white as the snow, the water is as blue as the sky and the sun is always shinning. The goal is to provide the customers with a "close to home" get away that proves to be a guaranteed good time. Basically - the ULTIMATE destination entertainment night spot!

The great food, interactive entertainment and world famous dueling pianos, and unmatched atmosphere are the main attractions at Rum Runners. The dueling piano concept consists of two entertainers playing baby grand pianos simultaneously. They play a variety of hit songs from the 60's, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and through today. The show focuses heavily on audience participation. It is very common to hear the crowd singing the chorus of a song while the entertainers lead them on. The staff (known as "The Staff That Rocks") performs with the entertainers live on stage once per hour in what is called SHOWTIME! This is audience interaction at its finest where the staff leads the guests in song and dance routines. The wide variety of music, audience participation, high energy level, and sheer FUN make Rum Runners the place to be with family and friends! Typically open 5-7 days a week, Rum Runners regularly attracts between 300-600+ people per day and always promotes its motto of Great Food, Great Music, Great Fun!

Rum Runners is based corporately in Raleigh, NC. All media inquiries should be directed to James Auerbach, Vice President at (919) 844-5959, ext 102 or via email at jauerbach@rumrunnersusa.com .

The Fishing Corner with Captain Robby Walker

May is a great time to be inshore fishing in Orange Beach. The warmer water conditions and lack of heavy rain have really helped the speckled trout fishing. We have been catching plenty of big trout the last couple of weeks along with some really nice flounder. The flounder are making their way back in the bays from the Gulf, and we’ve been catching most of the flounder on small mullet and bull minnows.

May is one of the best times to get the kids out fishing. Other than the trout and flounder, we are catching several different species that are fun and easy for kids to catch. The bluefish, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, and mangrove snapper are showing up around the pass and will be around most of the summer. For the fly fisherman out there, we have caught several large trout on fly this past week including a 28 inch fish that weighed 7 pounds! There are lots of great opportunities for fish on fly, from redfish, and trout to bonitos and jack crevelle. As we get near the end of May the shark fishing will getting hot. And we target black tips, spinners, bull sharks, and hammerheads just to name a few.

Come book a trip with us today 251-233-3017

REO Speedwagon and STYX at The Amphitheater at The Wharf June 18th

VH1 Classic and Rock Band ® are proud to bring the CAN’T STOP ROCKIN’ 2009 Tour, featuring REO Speedwagon, STYX and 38 Special, to The Amphitheater at The Wharf June 18th as part of the Pepsi Star Series. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 a.m.

To celebrate their upcoming trek together, STYX and REO Speedwagon teamed up to record a new single, “Can’t Stop Rockin’,” co-written by REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin and STYX’s Tommy Shaw. “Can’t Stop Rockin’” made its radio debut in March and is available for download.

Kevin Cronin, lead singer and principle songwriter, keyboard player and founding member Neal Doughty, bass player Bruce Hall, lead guitarist Dave Amato, and drummer Bryan Hitt, are REO Speedwagon. Since the release of their first record in 1971, the band has produced 17 critically acclaimed albums including the monumental 10 million seller, Hi Infidelity, had scored 13 Top 40 singles, including the Number One hits “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Keep On Loving You,” and “Time For Me To Fly,” timeless classics including "Roll With The Changes", "Ridin' The Storm Out", "Take It On The Run", "Don't Let Him Go" and "Keep Pushin." Their latest album, Find Your Own Way Home, featured the radio favorites “Needed To Fall” and “Smilin’ In The End.” REO Speedwagon has sold more than 40 million albums to date.

STYX members Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman and Ricky Phillips (along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo), have performed more live since ’99 than all of the previous years of its career combined. Two Super-Bowl appearances, Pollstar Box Office chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company (to name only a few), two more studio albums and no end in sight, STYX continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time. Every STYX release throughout the late '70s earned at least platinum certification (1976's Crystal Ball, 1977's The Grand Illusion, 1978's Pieces of Eight, and 1979's Cornerstone), and spawned such hit singles and classic rock radio standards as "Renegade," "Blue Collar Man" and "Fooling Yourself.” Paradise Theater became Styx's biggest hit album of their career (selling over three million copies in a three-year period), as they became one of the U.S. top rock acts due to such big hit singles as "Too Much Time on My Hands." It also marked the first time in history that a band released four consecutive triple-platinum albums.

Donnie Van Zant and Don Barnes co-founded 38 Special in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida and have been touring relentlessly for the past 30 years. In its early days, the band built its reputation with its brand of Southern boogie and blues-rock before transforming into a more arena-rock-friendly style, selling millions of albums and garnering fans worldwide. Since 1975, the band has released more than 15 albums, most of which reached gold or platinum status. Among 38 Special's best-known songs are "Hold on Loosely," "Caught Up in You", "Second Chance", and "Rockin' into the Night".

THE CONFERENCE CENTER AT THE WHARF CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING

The Wharf announces the completion and Grand Opening of The Conference Center at The Wharf. The addition of this impressive new facility to the extensive and diverse offerings of residential, commercial and recreational venues at The Wharf, further establishes The Wharf as the Gulf Coast’s premier destination resort.

Facility

The Conference Center’s 27,000 square feet of interior space houses meeting room areas, a Green Room, and state-of-the-art audio and visual technology available for hosting a wide variety of exhibits and functions, including association and group meetings, trade shows, special events, weddings, and sporting events. The exhibition hall is comprised of 18,600 square feet of floor space, accommodating more than 2,000 guests for reception or theater style seating and more than 1,500 for banquet style seating.

The Conference Center at The Wharf is the largest of its kind on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Officials with the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) expect this new facility to have a tremendous impact on the area as the first meeting destination in the area to combine professional, resort and recreational opportunities in one central location.

Professional groups and organized clubs are drawn to the Alabama Gulf Coast for its beautiful beaches and area attractions that offer, not only recreational options for members during conference downtime, but a relaxing, scenic environment and pleasant, tropical climate. The Conference Center will lend itself to attracting new business that previously could not book in the area due to space or date availability.

The Fishing Corner

From Captain Robby Walker

--
April is not only the beginning of spring, but the kick off of Cobia season for our area. Cobia, or Ling as some of the old school captains call them, migrate along our coast from the last week in March to about the middle of May. We site fish for them using live bait or jigs. The average size is between 35 and 65 pounds so these are a lot of fun to catch on light tackle. April is also one of the best months for speckled trout fishing. We're catching most of the trout on free lined live shrimp, soft plastics and mirrolures. There are several other species we catch this time of year, such as pompano, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and flounder. With the mild weather and great fishing opportunities April is a great time to get out and do some inshore fishing.

MUSIC LEGENDS EARTH, WIND & FIRE AND CHICAGO KICK OFF TOUR AT THE WHARF

Music legends Earth, Wind & Fire and Chicago announce their 2009 tour will kick off at The Amphitheater at The Wharf on Friday, June 5 as part of the Pepsi Star Series. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance are now on sale.

The Earth, Wind & Fire 11-piece band is among the most influential, commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands of the last three decades. Formed in 1969 in Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire's 39-year history resulted in millions of albums sold worldwide and distinguished awards and accolades. Founding members: Maurice White (leader, vocalist, songwriter); Philip Bailey (lead vocalist, percussionist); Verdine White (bassist); Ralph Johnson (drummer and percussionist) have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and are credited with eight Grammy Awards, 20 Grammy nominations, four American Music Awards, honors from the NAACP, the BET Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To this day, Earth, Wind & Fire remains one of the top globally popular touring attractions with signature sound and distinctive musical styles that fuse pop, soul, jazz, rock n' roll, psychedelic, African roots music and disco with a base in funk.

Chicago has written, recorded and performed some of the most popular and musically innovative songs in rock history. Chicago also won a Grammy Award, American Music Awards, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, had a downtown Chicago street renamed in their honor, and been celebrated with an exhibit at the Chicago History Museum. An incredible 25 of their 30 albums have been certified platinum, and Chicago is the first American band to chart Top 40 albums in five decades. Rhett opened for Hank Williams at The Amphitheater’s very first concert Memorial Day weekend 2006, and for Montgomery Gentry at their 4th of July show in 2007. LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULER!

Get your purple, green and gold out because it’s Mardi Gras Time for Orange Beach!

And, I can’t think of a better way to start the season off right than at The Conference Center at The Wharf, which was opened last night with The Mystical Order of Mirams Goddess of The Seas 2009 Mardi Gras Ball. Over 300 people enjoyed the Rockin’ Moroccan Nights with their Queen Dana Day and Emblem Virginia Lynn at this new complex at The Wharf. Accompanied by a setting of extravagant Moroccan decorations, Vince Vance and the Andy Smith Band entertained the Gulf Coast guests for their 3rd annual ball. Doors opened at seven o’clock that evening and the Tableau was held at eight. What a spectacular first night at The Conference Center at The Wharf!

The Mardi Gras celebration does not stop there. Kicking off Saturday night at 8 p.m., The Mystics of Pleasure will have their ball at The Conference Center at The Wharf as well. Their “Nine is Fine” Masquerade Ball is the MOP’s ninth Mardi Gras celebration as the largest society on Pleasure Island, and the only society that parades and has its grand ball on the same night!

The Wharf is also celebrating Joe Cain Day this upcoming Sunday, February 22nd. During the onset of Civil War, Mardi Gras celebrations on the gulf coast came to an abrupt halt. Participating retailers and restaurants are offering raffle tickets for a chance to win an $800 prize pack from The Wharf. Everyone that comes to The Wharf will receive raffle tickets at any of the participating stores, bars, and restaurants with each purchase. The more stores you visit, the more chances you have to win! The Fishing Corner with Captain Robby Walker

February is a good month for Speckled Trout fishing in creeks and rivers along the Gulf Coast since the water temperture is cold enough to keep the fish pushed in the creeks for a few more weeks. Bull Reds are still migrating along the beaches of Alabama's Gulf Coast. Weather permitting charters from The Wharf Outfitter are running the beach in search of schools of bait fish, or anchovies, on which the Reds will be feeding.

Bull Reds are great catches through Febuary, and sometimes into March. As Spring arrives, changes in this environment allow for more species to be caught near the pass. These species include Pomano, Flounder, Bluefish, Spanish Mackrel, and Trout.

Kenny Chesney Tickets On Sale This Saturday!

Four-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of The Year, Kenny Chesney, will bring his 2009 Sun City Carnival Tour, presented by Corona Extra, to The Amphitheater at The Wharf on Thursday, August 6th as a part of The Wharf’s Pepsi Concert Series. This hotly anticipated tour promises to be just as exhilarating as his prior tours that have thrilled over a million fans each of the past seven years.

Chesney was recently recognized by Pollstar as the number one ticket seller for all 2008 concert tours. Chesney’s tours boast sell outs at stadiums and large arenas all over the country including Boston's Gillette Stadium, which sold with over 68,000 seats in less than 10 minutes five years in a row. Miranda Lambert, whose ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ won the ACM Album of the Year in 2008, and Lady Antebellum, who won the 2008 CMA Best New Duo/Group Award and was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist, will also perform at the concert.

“The Wharf is thrilled to be a part of this tour, which includes stops at several NFL stadium sized venues. This validates The Wharf’s growing reputation in the music industry and we think this is a sign of more great things to come for The Wharf and the Gulf Coast area. This concert, being right before schools start back, will make a perfect ending to what promises to be a great summer season at The Wharf and at The Amphitheater,” says Pete Bryan, General Manager of The Amphitheater at The Wharf.

Tickets for this concert go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 14th online at Ticketmaster.com, charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or at The Amphitheater Box Office Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or at The Dock Store at The Marina. The Fishing Corner with Captain Robby Walker

The Fishing Corner
with Captain Robby Walker

Winter in Orange Beach is a great time to fish for Redfish and Speckled Trout.

Bull Reds are adult Redfish that migrate along the Gulf Coast this time of year and are plentiful when the weather is right. Specifically, the best time to fish for Redfish is immediately following a cold front. After the front pushes through, a light north wind makes it easy to run the beach in search of schools of Baitfish, on which Redfish feed. Most Redfish are over 15 lbs and are easily caught on light spin tackle using jigs and live bait.

Trout fishing is another option if the Gulf is too choppy, or if conditions are not right for Redfish. Speckled Trout run up creeks, rivers, and bayous when the water temperature drops. Cold weather drives Baitfish from the bays to the creeks and rivers, and Trout follow.

For fly fishermen, this time of year also presents great opportunities to catch large Redfish and Trout on fly.

The Orvis-endorsed guides at The Wharf Outfitters fish the beautiful waters of the Gulf Coast on trolling motor, and cast various artificial lures or live shrimp.

For more Gulf Coast fishing information, or to book a charter with Captain Robby Walker, call The Wharf Outfitters at 251-224-1483.
